Young people continue to take the lead in building a green future! Green Empowerment Association is bringing together youth from across Europe through its Erasmus+ youth exchange project, “Pandemic Pollution.” The project will take place in Iași, Romania, from October 7–12, 2025, with participants from Turkey, Romania, Germany, Lithuania, and Bulgaria. A total of 40 young people will take part, half of whom are individuals with fewer opportunities.

Our Goals: Empowering Youth to Combat Air Pollution

Air pollution is a major global issue threatening public health. Particularly in urban areas, rising levels of particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Cities such as Istanbul and Ankara in Turkey, urban centers in Romania, industrial regions in Germany, and areas in Lithuania facing high nitrogen dioxide and ozone levels all highlight the urgent need for action.

The main goal of “Pandemic Pollution” is to raise awareness among youth about this pressing issue and empower them to become active agents of change. Participants will not only understand the health impacts of air pollution but also learn practical ways to contribute to cleaner air at both individual and community levels.

Project Activities: Learning Through Fun

Participants will engage in a variety of creative and interactive activities to enhance their knowledge and skills:

  • Pollution Puzzle: Participants assemble puzzle pieces to form a visual representation of pollution and its health effects.

  • Pollution Tales: Youth explore air pollution challenges in their countries and share solutions.

  • Designing an Air-Friendly Household: Participants design homes that promote indoor air quality.

  • Pollution Detective Challenge: Teams solve outdoor air pollution scenarios through interactive problem-solving.

  • Air Pollution Short Film & Dance for Change: Creative expression and public engagement activities spread awareness dynamically.

  • Clean Air Quizventure: Participants conduct interactive quizzes at a shopping center to educate the public.

These activities combine fun, creativity, and experiential learning, while also developing teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Social Inclusion and Intercultural Exchange

The project not only fosters environmental awareness but also promotes intercultural exchange. Young people from diverse countries come together to share experiences and perspectives. Special support is provided to participants with fewer opportunities, ensuring equal participation and promoting inclusivity, empathy, and solidarity among all participants.

Expected Impact

Through “Pandemic Pollution”:

  • Participants and local communities will gain awareness of the causes and health impacts of air pollution.

  • Youth will learn practical ways to reduce pollution at personal and local levels.

  • Sustainable behaviors and environmental consciousness will spread within communities.

  • Participants will document their learning, enhance personal development, and gain skills in advocacy and environmental leadership.

Within the framework of Erasmus+, this project supports youth personal growth, intercultural learning, and active participation, empowering participants to take ownership of their learning and become advocates for clean air in their communities.
